windsor-racecourse Windsor (Monday evening racing is usual with occasional saturday racing (including next week on the 30th june) Now when we went to Royal Ascot and paid the extra for the grandstand, our cameras and picnics where taken off us as this were verboten in the royal grandstand, for security reasons apparently, but I see this chap has some pics of the queen at ascot in 2006 on Flickr so I must ask him about ow he got his camera in

The pics I found on the the BBC berkshire website are really fun to look at.

With the smoking ban coming in at the beginning of July Day 3 Pic1 - an unidentified young lady wearing a hat created as an ash tray with a half smoked fag stubbed out in the bowl

Another unidentified lady flies the flag in a really stylish fashion in pic seven

Some work better than others Day 3 pic 37 shows a hat that seems to feature real starfish and scallop shells.

The designers themselves often turn up and show their creations, in day 3 pic 43 Hat designer Tracy Rose shows a dramatic Orange, silver and yellow outfit co-ordinated dress and hat. compare that to day 2 pic 13 where Tracy's hat seems rather top heavy in the form of an upside-down champange glass

Sometimes the hat wears the star and a sometimes the other way about, in pic 50 Jodie Kidd with large hair wears a simple hat in an unusual way. Compare that to her hat on the previous day shown in pic number 8 were a happy looking jodie has pheasant feathers curving from a wide asymetric brimmed hat.

and seriously Pink outfit in pic 11

The mature ladies don't want to miss out in day one pic 11 a bright red tube make up the hat - 'yes the internet is just a series of tubes' to paraphrase Ted Stevens Sometimes the pics are more candidly shot, I found two funnies from the bbc pics, at day one pic 3 the energy sapping nature of all that is Royal Ascot can catch up on one, even on the first day.

I went to look for some pics of these events around the web and found some great pics of stonehenge and glastonbury on that is flicker without the E.

One of Christine Seebach's other pics shows a sign taped to a wall outside the Nell Gywnne tavern saying "staff wanted -must have own teeth" there are some comments in a language I cannot read. Perhaps someone can translate them.

Some other of christine's pics show Wimbledon, the home of the famous tennis tournament that starts this week, it never bodes well for good weather, rain is so common during wimbledon week, her photos show the area but not show the tennis.
