ShownotesIndeed Welcome to Indigo Whisky Zero One Four for the 4th of July 2007. This is a "much more music" episode. The main reason will be become clearer later. But I also was inspired by the great tenor sax sound of Excellent Adventure a band that I caught accidentally when looking to see if Katie Ellen had any new tracks up on the PMN. If you enjoy Blues, Jazz and a bit of rock then listen on, I am sure you won t be disappointed. Weather: From the summery Spring we have moved to a wintery summer. with Daily Rain, much of it heavy, and it is much colder, although very humid. Most of you will have heard of the devastating floods in Sheffield and South Yorkshire some 200 miles north of us here in Wokingham. These and some westerly areas continue to be badly affected. The heavyist rain missed this area, as I have said before, the Thames Valley has different wind patterns from the areas north, south, and west of here. The large spiral weather system that brought that wet weather appeared on the Met office rain radar like a cartwheel spinning, firstly centered on Cardiff in Wales and then over Gloucester but you could see that, as the spiral of clouds came towards the Thames Valley, it had dumped most of the rain and relaxed before going up north and regaining wetness over the moorlands of Yorkshire. Music: Strange Weather by Excellent Adventure In Wokingham the gas works have caused the closure on Denmark Street until being of August. On Saturdays the Town coucil have arranged music in the market square hopefully entitleing the event "Sunny Saturdays" 30 June Woodley Concert Band 10 - 12 noon 14 July OBJ s (Morris Dancers) 11 - 12.30am 21 July St. Sebastian s (Wokingham Brass Band) 10 - 12 noon 28 July Hurst Morris People 10 - 12 noon Wellington boots will be allowed at this year s Henley Royal Regatta, with organisers relaxing the normally strict dress code because of the wet weather, there were thoughts that it may have had to be cancelled due to the Thames river being too much in flood. The regatta starts today. Grovers tune by Excellent Adventure On a personal note... Adam Curry on his podcast DSC627 was remembering the 1st anniversary of the passing of his mother from the same cause. It seems so unfair. AC has recently given up smoking and gone cold turkey and I congratulate him on that. And in England this last weekend saw the implimentation of a new govenment ititiative intended to help reduce lung cancers saw the introduction of a work place smoking ban. Meaning that "the smoking room" is no longer legal in offices, and the area that has got most media coverage, pubs and clubs are no longer able to allow smoking on their premises. It seems the rules have come in with few problems, and if it was thought that summer weather would ease the transition the hope was in vain. I shall keep my ear to the ground around Wokingham and see how its going over the next few weeks. The music I have chosen for this week has a mellow, bluesier tone in keeping with my feelings. And I found a great saxophonist on the podsafe music network. This piece shows the power and feeling which Bill Omegaman Mecca brings to his music. Music: Journey by Excellent Adventure I have a friend who is a real BSpring fanatic travelling europe for concerts and collecting so much material on him. The next track reminds me of the heart that BS puts into his songs. Shoretown by Excellent Adventure Sep. 21 2006 Quote from Excellent AdventureBandNotes ' Music is an Excellent Adventure. I have met and worked with some great musicians, some in person, but more, like those on my recordings that I have never met in person. Ain t the internet great? A bit about me, I m a video producer and voice over talent by day and a saxophone player/singer in my spare time, what there is of it. Balancing things in this hectic age we live in can be a challenge. Family, job, household, and our passions all deserve time, but how much they can get is all dependent upon how well you can juggle. For me, at this point, that means I am not currently performing live, trying to write, and keep my chops up, because family comes first. I am planning and preparing a solo show, but it will take time, and there is no rush. if you enjoy what you hear, that s great and drop me a line.' "Excellent Adventure" have seven tracks available for listening online at music.podshow.com check them out. Don t FORGET Visit our website for links to the items mentioned here, find us at at inwokingham.podshow.com, comments and news is welcomed at podcastalley.com I ll see you on the next episode and in the meantime "Cheers from here in Wokingham" |
